As one of today's favourite sayings goes "sharing is caring," which is the attitude two Melbourne friends have adopted with the launch of their new website Share Design (sharedesign.com). The idea was born after Shareen Joel, an interior and industrial designer, and Miranda Lansell, who has a background in marketing, found themselves receiving regular phone calls from friends asking for advice regarding their own home decorating projects.
Eventually the two decided to collaborate by launching a website aimed at helping those create an online space to discover and share design ideas. Described as an online resource, it is a fantastic starting point for those who know what they like but don't necessarily know where to buy items for their home.
The website has information and products for every room of the house from the bedroom to the bathroom, to the kitchen and outdoors. You can even find some innovative ideas for your hallway and stairs! With over 100 products, finishes and fittings to choose from there are plenty of ways to find inspiration and then create your own free design files and storyboards to jump start any renovation project.
As well as products, Shareen has uploaded photos of finished rooms, some of which are from her own work. Users can click on any photo and receive instant information on what products, artwork and paint colours were used to create that room. For example, a user might see a kitchen appliance in this Stockholm studio kitchen and at the click of a button they are taken to a page with further product details. One more click will take them to a supplier/retailer page where they can instantly purchase this appliance from the comfort of their home or office! Best of all, many of the products that are listed are easily accessible and at an affordable price point.
